15 May 2010 - Cornél's baby has been born!
Congratulations to my dear friend, colleague and fellow midwife Cornél who gave birth (naturally) to a beautiful petite baby girl. Friday the 14th May 2010 was an incredibly long and hard journey but the reward was beyond great for Werner and Cornél. Congratulations on Mia's birth. I am so proud of you Cornél! See gallery for more photo's of little Mia.
29 April 2010 - Happenings
2010 is well underway with the WORLD CUP racing toward us and soccer fever soaring through our veins. The baby clinic is ever popular with 3 clinics running full time. Our friendly and professional clinic sisters are always ready to offer professional advise and emotional support to all who cross their path. For those of you who have phoned in recently you will have noticed a new voice on the phone. Adelaide joined us as the practice receptionist mid March. She has hit the ground running and immediately become a valuable part of our team. Yolandi who has been our right hand at reception for some years now has moved into the midwifery department, up for new challenges and doing great. We are certainly having a baby boom in midwifery... this April we have had a record number of 18 bookings. (Still waiting for some to give birth... seeing as it seems to be the season for babies to be somewhat overdue) Cornel is soon to become a new mommy herself so has left the practice on maternity leave. Her absence is definately felt as well as her cheerful personality. We all wish her the very best as she embarks on her own very special journey. Esti who joined our midwife practice in October is very busy and very popular. She is already almost fully booked at this point in time. What a lovely midwife. We are so blessed to have her arrive on our doorstep and sincerely hope she will stay for a very long time. All the news for now....... See our new birth stories and feel free to share yours with us too.
24 February 2010 - Stats
I have spent the last few weeks plodding through our numbers doing stats for births done in 2009. A couple of interesting things have come to light..... Tuesday's were the birth day of choice last year! We had a total of 115 births and of these only 14 ended up in Caesarian Sections. 2 ended up with instrument (suction) births. More girls were born than boys (this is no surprise). 50 boys and 65 girls.... 72 of the births we assisted with took place between 17h00 and 5h00! 43 were during office hours only..... These were just some of the very interesting facts that came to light. Now you know why midwife's have dark circles under their eyes.....
